Care & Maintenance
A Honoré Studio sign is made to last a lifetime. With simple, regular care it keeps its character — year after year. Below you'll find guidance for each of our materials.
Everyday care
For everyday care, a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth is all that's needed. Wipe in the direction of the material and avoid scouring pads, steel wool and abrasive, acidic or strongly alkaline cleaners — they can scratch the surface or damage the finish. Never use chemical solvents directly on the engraving.
Gold
Natural brass
Our brass is untreated and unlacquered — a living material. Over time it develops a warm, darker patina that tells its own story. This is not a flaw but the nature of brass, and many choose the sign precisely for that journey.
To keep it bright
Polish the sign regularly with a brass polish and a soft cloth, then buff dry. The more often you polish, the brighter the brass stays.
To let it patinate
Then do nothing — simply dust with a dry cloth. The patina develops beautifully and evenly on its own.
Avoid
Abrasive products, acidic cleaners and aggressive chemicals, which can leave marks in the brass.
Silver & black
Anodised aluminium
Anodising is an electrochemical process that seals the aluminium surface in a hard, colour-fast finish. The result is an extremely durable surface that neither fades nor rusts — and requires minimal care.
Cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water and a little mild soap. Dry with a soft, dry cloth so no streaks or water marks are left behind.
Avoid
Abrasive sponges, steel wool and cleaners containing acid, ammonia or solvents — they can dull or break down the anodised surface. The matte black finish should not be treated with wax or polish.

The engraving
Your text is engraved deep into the metal and is a permanent part of the sign — it cannot wear off. Clean gently across the engraving with a soft cloth, and avoid rubbing polish hard into the recesses, so they keep their clean, crisp line.
